“Kids have technology, school and extracurricular activities covered. It’s time to add a pinch of adventure, a sprinkle of sunshine and a big handful of  outdoor play.”

COASTAL ADVENTURES CAMP FAQs

This is an outdoor camp, so what happens if it rains?

We are firm believers in the mantra “there is no bad weather, only bad gear!” Our campers will be learning and growing, rain or shine. We’ll adjust our itinerary to accommodate weather and marine conditions.

What do children need to bring to camp each day?

Campers will need to bring amphibious sandals (Tevas, Chacos, or other well-fitting sandals…not Crocs or flip-flops), a swimsuit and swim shirt, a towel, change of clothes, a water bottle, and a packed lunch. We also ask that campers have a waterproof-breathable rain jacket for rainy weather.

What ages can participate the camp?

This camp is for rising 6th through rising 8th grade campers.

Cancellation Policies

All cancellations incur a fee of 20% of the cost of the session. “Cost” is defined as the total amount the purchaser is responsible for paying (minus any financial aid). Cancellations must be made by May 15, 2024 at 11:59pm to receive a refund, minus a 20% cancellation fee. Any cancellation made after May 15th will not be refunded.** All cancellation requests must be made in writing, by emailing the address provided in your registration packet.

** You will have the option of purchasing cancellation insurance through our booking platform. This insurance will allow you to receive a refund for any cancellation up to 24hr in advance of the camp.

If 41 North cancels a camp session:

41 North reserves the right to cancel a camp session. Potential scenarios include, but are not limited to, low registration, illness impacting staffing, power outage, emergency scenarios, etc. In these cases, a prorated refund will be issued to families reflecting the total days cancelled and the cancellation fee will be waived. If the entire week is cancelled, families may choose to transfer to another session instead of being refunded (provided an open spot is available). In this case, the transfer fee would be waived.

If your camper is dismissed from a camp session:

All participants and their parents/guardians must agree to the behavior expectations listed during registration. Dismissal may occur if your camper’s behavior is unsafe or if your camper consistently fails to follow camp behavioral expectations. No refunds are given if a camper is dismissed due to safety or behavior concerns.

Transfer Policy

If you are interested in transferring  to a different week, a $35 administrative fee will be charged in addition to the cost of the week.  Ability to transfer is dependent on camp availability.

Coastal Adventures Camp Behavioral Expectations

41 North is committed to providing a safe, caring, and fun environment. As an outdoor camp, we engage in activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and outdoor games/activities. It is important for the safety of all campers and our staff that campers are able to demonstrate they can reliably follow the below expectations in order to participate in all camp activities.

  • Follow instructions, including safety standards, at all times. This includes staying with the group, not running ahead of the educator and responding when their name is called promptly.

  • Respect nature by staying on designated trails, not damaging or removing anything from the environment unless instructed otherwise by the camp educator.

  • Respect fellow campers by not causing any physical harm, such as biting, hitting, pinching, punching, kicking, bullying or using hurtful/harmful language when speaking with others.

Outline of Corrective Action

If the expectations listed above, or a pattern of other inappropriate behavior occurs, the camp staff will practice positive reinforcement and remain professional when implementing corrective action.

  • Step One: Remind the camper of expected behavior.

  • Step Two: 41 North staff will have a private conversation with the camper to set specific behavior goals and outline consequences for continued inappropriate behavior. At this time a verbal warning may be given to the camper.

  • Step Three: Camper and 41 North staff will have a conversation with the parent/guardian at the end of the day where strategies to help improve behavior will be determined and implemented. If a second warning is given, 41 North staff will complete a Behavioral Incident Report that will be reviewed with the parent/guardian and signed.

  • Step Four: If inappropriate behavior continues after the written warning, a third warning will be given to the camper. Once a camper receives a total of three warnings they may be dismissed from camp.

**Dismissal may also occur if a camper’s behavior disrupts the safety or dynamic of the larger group. Once dismissed from camp, tuition is forfeited and registration in any subsequent camps for that season may be canceled.**
